Comment 13 Steinar Knutsen 2025-05-09 11:02:37 UTC
1: start a single instance of screen

2: Inside screen, try to use the -X flag to run screen commands from the shell, e.g. "screen -X register . clean-cut-paste"

screen terminates when trying to run commands from the command line. From inside screen, when running a single instance of screen, running "screen -X register . clean-cut-paste" causes a core dump. The same happens for other commands, e.g.:

> screen -X echo a
*** buffer overflow detected ***: terminated
zsh: IOT instruction (core dumped) screen -X echo a

Also, the problem occurs the same whether running "screen -X" from inside or outside a screen session, I just reported what made me aware of the problem first.
