Description m 2025-04-26 13:55:25 UTC
The beta is not complete, not compatible with current assets and does not connect to multiplayer servers.

Should be the stable version 14.1 like for fc41.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.dnf install openttd
2.openttd
3.????
4.is this loss?

Additional Information:
The flatpaks are also confusing, claiming to be outdated and pointing to each other.

OK so what happened here is that OpenTTD failed to build on rawhide at the time (before the F42) release and I opted to update the version in rawhide to be 15.0-beta1, which fixed this build error. I was hoping openttd would be out of beta by the time F42 was branched. That didn't happen, so we ended up with 15.0-beta1 in F42 stable.
That's not ideal, but I would like to avoid having to manually backport the build fixes to 14.1 and introduce an Epoch on the RPM to forcefully downgrade people back to 14.1. This would also break save games for anyone already playing on 15.0-beta1.

For the time being I would recommend using the 14.1 Flatpak: flatpak install flathub org.openttd.OpenTTD
I just installed and tested this particular Flatpak and it works for joining online servers running version 14.1.

I'll try to avoid this situation in the future.

Comment 2 Fedora Release Engineering 2026-05-06 12:45:38 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora Linux 42 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora Linux 42 on 2026-05-13.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
'version' of '42'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, change the 'version'
to a later Fedora Linux version. Note that the version field may be hidden.
Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see it.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora Linux 42 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora Linux, you are encouraged to change the 'version' to a later version
prior to this bug being closed.
