Comment 11 Mads Kiilerich 2025-09-14 11:15:28 UTC
The Mercurial project unfortunately rushed a forced upgrade of setuptools, as analyzed (and proposed relaxed) in https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/mercurial-devel/-/merge_requests/1528/diffs?commit_id=bc08b797f80fb949260fb56e767f69ab74d5ae01 .

That should however not be a problem for Fedora rawhide. But rawhide is still using setuptools 78.1.1 from Apr 19, 2025 . With the rapid [attempts at] improving Python packaging, it makes a difference to stay uptodate.

That is blocking the update of Mercurial to use the new %pyproject_wheel macros instead of the deprecated %py3_build .

Please, can setuptools be upgraded in rawhide?
