Description of problem:

gnome crashes in gnome-initial-setup in Fedora-Workstation-Live-Rawhide-20250712.n.0.x86_64.iso nightly ISO. The error message is displayed momentarily after the initial setup then it goes away. See the attached demo video.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

I don't know.

How reproducible:

Not sure but I remember it also happened with a previous rawhide 43.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download Rawhide-20250712.n.0.x86_64.iso from https://openqa.fedoraproject.org/nightlies.html
2. Install
3. Complete initial setup
4. See error message momentarily

Actual results:

Oh no! Something has gone wrong.

A problem has occurred and the system can't recover. Please contact a system administrator

Expected results:

No error message.

Additional info:

Installed as dual boot with macOS on a 2017 MacBook Pro.

Surprisingly, `/var/log/gdm/` is empty.

I just tried installing in GNOME Boxes and the same happened there too. So I don't think it's a hardware issue.

Comment 2 Osama Albahrani 2025-07-30 17:10:30 UTC
The same still happens with Fedora-Workstation-Live-Rawhide-20250728.n.1.aarch64.iso in a VM.

Comment 3 Osama Albahrani 2025-08-22 21:14:50 UTC
This also happens with Fedora-Silverblue-ostree-aarch64-43-20250821.n.0.iso in a UTM VM.

Comment 4 Osama Albahrani 2025-09-07 15:08:03 UTC
Also happens with Fedora-Workstation-Live-43-20250826.n.1.aarch64.iso in VMware Fusion.

Hi Osama, do you mind checking rawhide to see if this is fixed in GNOME 49.rc? (Fedora 43 does not have this update yet due to beta freeze, but rawhide should.)
