Description Fedora Release Engineering 2025-07-30 14:28:31 UTC
grpc failed to build from source in Fedora rawhide/f43

https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=135205544

For details on the mass rebuild see:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_43_Mass_Rebuild
Please fix grpc at your earliest convenience and set the bug's status to
ASSIGNED when you start fixing it. If the bug remains in NEW state for 8 weeks,
grpc will be orphaned. Before branching of Fedora 44,
grpc will be retired, if it still fails to build.

Hello. This is a bulk comment.

This package still needs to be rebuilt and/or shipped with Python 3.14.0rc2+ bytecode in Fedora 43.

The Beta Freeze of Fedora 43 is scheduled to start today. Please prioritize this bugzilla accordingly.

Thanks.

FEDORA-2025-5aa2157aca (abseil-cpp-20250814.0-1.fc43, bloaty-1.1-45.fc43, and 19 more) has been submitted as an update to Fedora 43.

Comment 6 Ben Beasley 2025-09-16 06:50:56 UTC
There are some flaky failures on some architectures, especially on s390x/ppc64le. It does eventually succeed with enough attempts. This package would probably benefit from doing a few scratch builds to observe flakiness and adding more test skips based on the results, especially since each build attempt takes more than two hours.
