Description Muhammad Ahsan 2007-04-30 22:42:03 UTC
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Opera/9.20 (Windows NT 6.0; U; en)

Description of problem:
The installation of F7 T4 went successful but after that, there is no display.
I guess the problem lies somewhere in the graphics driver area as my laptop has
an Nvidea GeForce 7200 graphics card. One interseting observation is that, the
graphics work fine while using a kernel with xen support. But a kernel without
xen support doesn't provide any display(only blank screen).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kernel 2.6.20-1.3104

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Perform an installation of F7 on HP pavillion based notebook
2.Immediately after the installation, pressing the reboot button cuases a
sys.hang
3. After post installation configuration the screen becomes blank and there is
no display.

Actual Results:
The blank screen problem is continuous and appears all the time.

Expected Results:
F7 should work fine with the Nvidea based graphics card.

Please attach the /var/log/Xorg.0.log from after the failed X launch.

Comment 3 Muhammad Ahsan 2007-05-08 15:54:54 UTC
While the system was booting, I pressed e selected the kernel and again pressed
e, I removed rhgb and placed noapic there. With this trick I was able to have a
proper display. This info might help you. The log is pasted below:

I have upgraded the kernel to version 2.6.21-1.3163.fc7 and problem persists. I
have also sent my laptop's hardware profile via smolt. You can have a look at it
at the following link:
http://smolt.fedoraproject.org/show?UUID=7dccb1fb-0851-4f4d-8cce-7d2a84e819a3
This might help you to eradicate the problem.
Wishing you good luck!

Created attachment 155587 [details]
attachment instead of paste of Xorg.0.log

We really prefer much attachments to paste-ins.

Comment 6 Bug Zapper 2008-04-04 00:24:43 UTC
Based on the date this bug was created, it appears to have been reported
against rawhide during the development of a Fedora release that is no
longer maintained. In order to refocus our efforts as a project we are
flagging all of the open bugs for releases which are no longer
maintained. If this bug remains in NEEDINFO thirty (30) days from now,
we will automatically close it.

If you can reproduce this bug in a maintained Fedora version (7, 8, or
rawhide), please change this bug to the respective version and change
the status to ASSIGNED. (If you're unable to change the bug's version
or status, add a comment to the bug and someone will change it for you.)

Thanks for your help, and we apologize again that we haven't handled
these issues to this point.

The process we're following is outlined here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/F9CleanUp

We will be following the process here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping to ensure this
doesn't happen again.
