Copied from https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2363643#c1:

----

Unfortunately, python-azure-batch was updated to a 15.0.0 beta release in Rawhide without coordination, and an internal API that this plugin used appears to be gone or refactored beyond recognition.

This is not something that I can reasonably fix downstream: the migration path is not obvious and I am not particularly familiar with the Azure SDK, so I would be starting from first principles, and that’s more than I want to attempt, especially without a way to test it since I do not have (or want) Azure credentials.

I reported the issue upstream in https://github.com/snakemake/snakemake-executor-plugin-azure-batch/issues/37. I doubt it will be a high priority since azure-batch 15 is not released yet and since pip users are protected by a SemVer bound (azure-batch = "^14.2.0"). However, we have some time to wait for a fix. If nothing is ready by the time we start getting to Fedora 43 freezes, I’ll probably need to retire this plugin.

----

I just pinged upstream to see if anyone is planning to work on this in the near term, https://github.com/snakemake/snakemake-executor-plugin-azure-batch/issues/37#issuecomment-3139691986. If I don’t hear back in the next week or so, then I’ll plan to go ahead and retire this package for F43.

Comment 5 Ben Beasley 2025-08-12 00:02:10 UTC
I haven’t had any response from upstream on azure-batch 15.0.0b1 compatibility, and it seems unlikely that a solution will be found in time for Fedora 43, so I have retired this package ahead of Fedora 43 branching.
