Dear package maintainer, Due to reasons described in https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@lists.fedoraproject.org/thread/XO5QGOXBWHFG7AOGDQBG23AQDS2MDTWI/ a rebuild of babeltrace was needed in Fedora 43 and 44. During the mass rebuild the package built successfully, but now appears to be stuck on gating in Bodhi. https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/?packages=babeltrace Please, determine the reason for this yourself and unstuck the Bodhi updates, ideally before the Fedora 43 Beta freeze (2025-08-26). Thank you. Let me know if you need help.
Hello. This is a bulk comment. This package still needs to be rebuilt and/or shipped with Python 3.14.0rc2+ bytecode in Fedora 43. The Beta Freeze of Fedora 43 is scheduled to start today. Please prioritize this bugzilla accordingly. Thanks.
Hi, I didn't immediately click on the fact that this is for babeltrace 1.5, not babeltrace2. babeltrace 1.5 is no longer supported upstream. I think it would be okay to drop babeltrace 1.5 from Fedora. A number of other projects seem to be configure to have dependencies on libbabeltrace though, and I think it's a bit much to ask their maintainers to reconfigure the builds without that support on such short notice: ``` $ fedora-repoquery rawhide --whatrequires libbabeltrace babeltrace-1.5.11-12.fc43.x86_64 (fedora-rawhide) ceph-common-19.2.3-8.fc44.x86_64 (fedora-rawhide) gdb-headless-16.3-5.fc44.x86_64 (fedora-rawhide) insight-13.0.50.20220502-25.fc44.x86_64 (fedora-rawhide) libbabeltrace-devel-1.5.11-12.fc43.i686 (fedora-rawhide) libbabeltrace-devel-1.5.11-12.fc43.x86_64 (fedora-rawhide) perf-6.17.0-0.rc2.250821g068a56e56fa8.27.fc44.x86_64 (fedora-rawhide) python3-babeltrace-1.5.11-12.fc43.x86_64 (fedora-rawhide) python3-perf-6.17.0-0.rc2.250821g068a56e56fa8.27.fc44.x86_64 (fedora-rawhide) ``` No packages seem to depend on python3-babeltrace, so it may be possible to simply drop that part of the package if it's the only blocker. ``` $ fedora-repoquery rawhide --whatrequires python3-babeltrace ``` I'll have a look at the build failure and see if it's something that can be addressed easily. @mjeanson thoughts? thanks, kienan
Note that there is no build failure; the updates are stuck on gating. I have no idea how is your gating configured, if this is a real issue, or a broken test.
neither do I, but I'm looking into it
