Would it be possible to branch and build python-maxminddb in EPEL10? I am requesting this as python-geoip2 (that you as well maintain, would request after) depends on it. I've done some tests: - Current rawhide would not build on epel10 since it requires a newer setuptools: ``` No matching package to install: 'python3dist(setuptools) >= 77.0.3' ``` I am not sure there is any plan for that to be updated. - F42 branch (so 2.6.3) seems to be the newest that works out of the box. So maybe this version could be a good one for epel10? Many thanks! F.
I don't have time to maintain this package in EPEL, so I'm going to reassign this bug to Stefan Bluhm - he did that for older EPELs.
Thanks for the feedback. Should also Stefan not have time, I can help with the EPEL package if that is fine and get permissions (FAS: fedepell). Thanks!
Hello @fedepell , I would be grateful if you can take it. Would you be willing to take over the maintainership of the EPEL package? @lbalhar Can you please grant fedepell contribution rights and if he is willing to take maintainerhsip also as EPEL owner? Best wishes, Stefan
I've granted contribution rights for all epel* branches to fedepell. Do you also want to be the main admin (default assignee in BZ) for EPEL?
Thanks for granting, I will take care of it in the next days! For default assignee for EPEL: if you guys do not have time I can take care of it, as it is one of the dependencies for python-geoip2 which I use so will maintain it (either on our local packaging or much better in EPEL). Actually I would then ask (I can do another ticket or if you don't mind we can do via this) if you could (or give me contribution permissions) do the same for that (but first the dependencies ;-) ) Thanks! F.
