This is a downstream report of https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/4211 , for blocker purposes. As detailed there, a bug in mutter 49 alpha - bisected to https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/commit/2682da09f1140df3f20e4ac24bf8ade15ba7e245 - causes some blivet-gui dialogs to be displayed in the wrong place, but more importantly, wrongly sized such that some elements simply are not visible and cannot reasonably be interacted with. See the example screenshot of the "Format device" dialog. I'm proposing this as a Beta blocker per "When using both the installer-native and the blivet-gui-based custom partitioning flow on the GTK-based installer, and the Cockpit-based "storage editor" flow on the webui-based installer, the installer must be able to: ... Create mount points backed by ext4 partitions, LVM volumes or btrfs volumes, or software RAID arrays at RAID levels 0, 1 and 5 containing ext4 partitions", because you can't really format a device and set a mountpoint for it, as shown in the screenshot.

mcatanzaro says this might fix it: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/merge_requests/4593
(In reply to Kamil Páral from comment #3) > mcatanzaro says actually, jadahl
Sadly it looks like 4593 does not fully fix this. The dialog is now centred, but it's still far too small (which is the bigger problem). See https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/merge_requests/4593#note_2534326 .
+3 in https://pagure.io/fedora-qa/blocker-review/issue/1881 , marking accepted.
Jonas suggests https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/merge_requests/4607 may fully fix this, I will test it soon.
I found a patch set that seems to fix this, see https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/4211#note_2539853 for details. Waiting to hear back from upstream on whether they can think of any problems the patch set may cause before doing an official build.
FEDORA-2025-7e109c4976 (adwaita-icon-theme-49~rc-1.fc43, at-spi2-core-2.57.2-1.fc43, and 62 more) has been submitted as an update to Fedora 43. https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2025-7e109c4976
The mutter in the 49 RC megaupdate has !4593 inherently, and also has the first four commits of 4607 backported, which is intended to resolve the issue. In my testing, it does look fixed.
FEDORA-2025-7e109c4976 has been pushed to the Fedora 43 testing repository. Soon you'll be able to install the update with the following command: `sudo dnf upgrade --enablerepo=updates-testing --refresh --advisory=FEDORA-2025-7e109c4976` You can provide feedback for this update here: https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2025-7e109c4976 See also https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:Updates_Testing for more information on how to test updates.
