simple-scan used to work for me in f42, but now I can't save any image or PDF because of that error. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Scan something 2. Save Actual Results: A dialog with "Failed to save file, Unhandled key while saving: x-dpi", then the application keeps displaying "Saving" in the corner. Expected Results: Document gets saved Additional Information: Nothing on the console Tested on: simple-scan-48.1-3.fc43.x86_64
Seeing this as well since updating to f43 a few days ago. There is a upstream report about this, no reply yet: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/simple-scan/-/issues/508 Not sure if this is a upstream problem or something in Fedora.
Same problem here on F43 beta. Output from "simple-scan --debug": [+18,72s] DEBUG: app-window.vala:618: Saving to 'file:///home/mmuehlfeld/Gescanntes%20Dokument.png' [+18,74s] WARNING: app-window.vala:641: Error saving file: Unhandled key while saving: x-dpi Deleting ~/.config/simple-scan/ and ~/.cache/simple-scan/ also didn't help. I temporarily installed simple-scan-48.1-1.fc42.x86_64.rpm on F43, but the problem persists (but the F42 package works on F42). The problem might be an incompatibility with a library. Workaround: Scanning with scanimage works: $ scanimage -d "<device>" --mode gray --format=png > scan.png
I used the SPEC file from 48.1-3 to create an RPM for simple-scan 49.0, but the problem is still there. This seems to be another indicator that the issue is not directly in simple-scan.
Proposed as a Blocker and Freeze Exception for 43-final by Fedora user augenauf using the blocker tracking app because: If it's shipped by default, it should work.
As seen here https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/simple-scan/-/issues/508#note_2557307 and in the subsequent comment, this is affecting Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS and CachyOS with simple-scan version 49 too, so clearly an upstream bug. Sophie Herold cloned the issue to the component gdk-pixbuf / glycin -> https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gdk-pixbuf/-/issues/274#note_2557209
This is fixed in gdk-pixbuf 2.44.2
Reassigning to gdk-pixbuf2, can we get a patched update, please?

I can confirm that the packages in https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=2831963 fix the bug for me. Thanks. # dnf update https://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org//packages/gdk-pixbuf2/2.44.2/1.fc43/x86_64/gdk-pixbuf2-2.44.2-1.fc43.x86_64.rpm
Great! We need a Bodhi update, please.
Upgrading to 2.44.2-1.fc44 from rawhide rescued my urgent document scan. Thanks to all involved.
