Further to Debarshi's tests in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2393443#c9 : part of this is a compression issue. https://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/archive/fedora/linux/releases/39/Container/x86_64/images/Fedora-Container-Toolbox-39-1.5.x86_64.tar.xz - 186M https://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/archive/fedora/linux/releases/40/Container/x86_64/images/Fedora-Container-Toolbox.x86_64-40-1.14.oci.tar.xz - 308M according to Debarshi's numbers, F39 and F40 toolbox containers are roughly the same size when retrieved from a registry. I tried downloading them and uncompressing them, and got rather interesting results: [adamw@toolbx fedora-toolbox-43 tmp]$ du -h toolbox* 996M toolbox39/e5db2d249a12e3b93aa665a4306a55456c1e9bbf26a363e6787bdf96468906b5 996M toolbox39 347M toolbox40/blobs/sha256 347M toolbox40/blobs 347M toolbox40 so just as archives, the F39 image is *smaller* compressed but *larger* uncompressed. No idea what's going on there.

Debarshi, what do you want to do here? In the other bug you said you want to 'investigate', but we have to decide what to do for F43. As things stand this blocks release. I'd recommend bumping the size limit, if you didn't manage to find a big smoking gun we can work on.

https://pagure.io/fedora-pgm/pgm_docs/pull-request/94 updates the limits in the blocking doc. I'll go ahead and update the limits in the relval metadata, and close the bugs.
Size limit is now 400M, so the images aren't oversize any more. Closing.
