Description joel 1999-04-28 16:27:35 UTC
The X server crashes under the current RawHide release.
This has been tested with both a SparcStation 4 and 5, with
a cgsix framebuffer. You can crash the server immediately
by running 'x11perf -all' and moving the mouse. It seems
that this problem is related to compiling the kernel with
egcs-1.1.2. If you compile the kernel with the RH 5.1
egcs-1.0.2 then the X server is stable. Here is the
'/proc/version' for the buggy kernel:

Linux version 2.2.5-6 (root.redhat.com) (gcc
version egcs-2.91.66 19990314/Linux (egcs-1.1.2 release)) #1
Fri Apr 9 01:07:10 EDT 1999

The following is for the kernel that runs the kernel
reliably:

Linux version 2.2.5-6 (root.com) (gcc version
egcs-2.90.27 980315 (egcs-1.0.2 release)) #6 Tue Apr 27
12:59:44 IDT 1999
