Hello. This is a bulk comment. This package still needs to be rebuilt and/or shipped with Python 3.14.0rc3+ bytecode in Fedora 43. The Final Freeze of Fedora 43 is scheduled to start next week. Please prioritize this bugzilla accordingly. Thanks.
Hi, I'm not sure I understand this bug. The f43 branch is in sync with rawhide and both f43 build and rawhide build failed with the same error (that is most likely completely unrelated to Python).
The “magic number” in the Python bytecode changed again in 3.14.0rc3, so the pre-compiled .pyc files in this and all other packages are useless until they are rebuilt with the latest Python interpreter. That means packages will still work, but bytecode compilation will happen at import time, every time, which will hurt performance. To avoid this, you need to rebuild the package in both Rawhide and F43. Apparently, it will be necessary to fix an FTBFS regression first in order to do that.
Hi Nikola, As Ben said: our automation sees scipy as containing obsolete Python bytecode files, which needs rebuilding. It's not the end of the world (or Fedora) if it doesn't succeed, but we strive to get as many packages as possible to the rebuilt state, before Fedora is out. Do you have any idea how that build error can be fixed?
Perhaps we could try to replicate https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/python-cvxopt/c/677d2a6c6e13995d63ddacd56ad8f5c3f38b3e52?branch=rawhide to workaround the failure on power?
