I would like to bump this update request. As of early 2026, the tldr.sh domain (which tealdeer 1.7.x relies on for its default cache updates) has been sunsetted by the tldr-pages project. This causes `tldr -u` to fail for all current Fedora users.

Updating to 1.8.1 is necessary as it introduces support for custom update URLs and better cache management, which are required to fix this breakage. I have verified that the current 1.7.2 version is unable to refresh its cache.

```sh
❯ tldr -u
Error: Could not update cache
Caused by:
    0: error sending request for url (https://tldr.sh/assets/tldr.zip)
    1: operation timed out
```

Thanks for letting us know.

It looks like 1.8.0 was quite a big release, including switching from reqwest to ureq v3, so that will require a bit more work downstream and likely won't happen quickly :(

Automation has figured out the package is retired in Fedora Rawhide.

If you like it to be unretired, please open a ticket at
https://forge.fedoraproject.org/releng/tickets/issues/new?template=.forgejo%2fISSUE_TEMPLATE%2funretire-package.md
