Description of problem: File and directories in the root folder appear on the desktop. In addition, the trash icon has disappeared Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): kdebase-3.5.6-12.fc7 How reproducible: Every time Steps to Reproduce: 1. Clear the .kde directory 2. Log in to a KDE session Actual results: The desktop has icons for files and folders from the root directory. Expected results: No icons! Additional info: When logging on after upgrading to -12 (from -6?), the icon set had changed (was bluecurve) to to what I guess is the default KDE set overriding the original profile settings.
kde-settings needs the xdg-user-dirs package in order to set the KDE enviroment (Path for Desktop, in this case). it seems this package is not installed on your machine. You should please install xdg-user-dirs package and restart your KDE session again, it should work. The bug has been already fixed in current kde-settings. Thanks for your report.
