Description krisrh21@yahoo.com 2025-10-31 20:34:20 UTC
When I attempted to perform a Fedora system release upgrade from 42 to 43 several times today, an internal error kept cropping up pointing to package conflicts specifically with WINE-10.15-1.

I have wine-10.15-1 (Staging) installed.

The error message being produced by plasma-discover is as follows:
Error running transaction: file /usr/lib64/wine/i386-windows from install of wine-core-10.15-1.fc43.x86_64 conflicts with file from package wine-core-10.15-1.fc42.x86_64
file /usr/lib/wine/i386-windows/ddraw.dll conflicts between attempted installs of wine-core-10.15-1.fc43.i686 and wine-core-10.15-1.fc43.x86_64
file /usr/lib/wine/i386-windows/urlmon.dll conflicts between attempted installs of wine-core-10.15-1.fc43.i686 and wine-core-10.15-1.fc43.x86_64

file /usr/lib/wine/i386-windows/wined3d.dll conflicts between attempted installs of wine-core-10.15-1.fc43.i686 and wine-core-10.15-1.fc43.x86_64
file /usr/lib/wine/i386-windows/winmm.dll conflicts between attempted installs of wine-core-10.15-1.fc43.i686 and wine-core-10.15-1.fc43.x86_64

I'm currently using Fedora 42 with KDE Plasma Desktop 6.4.5.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Click on "Upgrade Now" in plasma-discover to begin the Fedora 42 to 43 system release upgrade process.
Actual Results:
The following error is produced:
Internal error: Error running transaction: file /usr/lib64/wine/i386-windows from install of wine-core-10.15-1.fc43.x86_64 conflicts with file from package wine-core-10.15-1.fc42.x86_64

file /usr/lib/wine/i386-windows/urlmon.dll conflicts between attempted installs of wine-core-10.15-1.fc43.i686 and wine-core-10.15-1.fc43.x86_64
file /usr/lib/wine/i386-windows/windows.devices.bluetooth.dll conflicts between attempted installs of wine-core-10.15-1.fc43.i686 and wine-core-10.15-1.fc43.x86_64
file /usr/lib/wine/i386-windows/wined3d.dll conflicts between attempted installs of wine-core-10.15-1.fc43.i686 and wine-core-10.15-1.fc43.x86_64
file /usr/lib/wine/i386-windows/winmm.dll conflicts between attempted installs of wine-core-10.15-1.fc43.i686 and wine-core-10.15-1.fc43.x86_64

Expected Results:
A system release upgrade to Fedora 43 should be completed without errors.

Additional Information:
I suspect wine-10.15-1 (Staging) being in installed is why plasma-discover is unable to perform a system release upgrade.

Comment 1 krisrh21@yahoo.com 2025-11-01 01:04:50 UTC
I was able to perform the Fedora release upgrade from 42 to 43 after removing WineTricks (which installed wine-10.15-1 alongside) while in plasma-discover.

This is a bug in wine, not discover.
