Description of problem: SELinux is preventing vncsession from 'getattr' accesses on the filesystem /. ***** Plugin catchall (100. confidence) suggests ************************** If you believe that vncsession should be allowed getattr access on the filesystem by default. Then you should report this as a bug. You can generate a local policy module to allow this access. Do allow this access for now by executing: # ausearch -c 'vncsession' --raw | audit2allow -M my-vncsession # semodule -X 300 -i my-vncsession.pp Additional Information: Source Context system_u:system_r:vnc_session_t:s0 Target Context system_u:object_r:pidfs_t:s0 Target Objects / [ filesystem ] Source vncsession Source Path vncsession Port <Unknown> Host (removed) Source RPM Packages Target RPM Packages SELinux Policy RPM selinux-policy-targeted-42.16-1.fc43.noarch Local Policy RPM tigervnc-selinux-1.15.0-7.fc43.noarch Selinux Enabled True Policy Type targeted Enforcing Mode Enforcing Host Name (removed) Platform Linux (removed) 6.17.8-300.fc43.x86_64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Fri Nov 14 01:47:12 UTC 2025 x86_64 Alert Count 26 First Seen 2025-11-03 12:47:36 EST Last Seen 2025-11-25 21:35:23 EST Local ID 21369545-1850-4a3b-9b9c-ca922f4e03d1 Raw Audit Messages type=AVC msg=audit(1764124523.828:135): avc: denied { getattr } for pid=1225 comm="vncsession" name="/" dev="pidfs" ino=1 scontext=system_u:system_r:vnc_session_t:s0 tcontext=system_u:object_r:pidfs_t:s0 tclass=filesystem permissive=0 Hash: vncsession,vnc_session_t,pidfs_t,filesystem,getattr Version-Release number of selected component: selinux-policy-targeted-42.16-1.fc43.noarch Additional info: reporter: libreport-2.17.15 reason: SELinux is preventing vncsession from 'getattr' accesses on the filesystem /. package: selinux-policy-targeted-42.16-1.fc43.noarch component: tigervnc hashmarkername: setroubleshoot type: libreport kernel: 6.17.8-300.fc43.x86_64 component: tigervnc

Hi, can you share how did you setup and run your VNC session?
I have same issue. The problem is well described here: https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/problems-with-systemd-in-vncserver-lxqt-session-with-f43/172485
> Hi, can you share how did you setup and run your VNC session? I set up vnc on Fedora 41 or 42 and it worked without issue until I upgraded to 43 when this vc denial started. Here are the notes I made when setting up vnc - Install server $ sudo dnf install tigervnc-server $ sudo dnf install plasma-workspace-x11 Install a client $ sudo dnf install remmina Add a mapping for user 'abc' to /etc/tigervnc/vncserver.users $ diff /etc/tigervnc/vncserver.users.original /etc/tigervnc/vncserver.users ... > :1=abc $ Create a password $ vncpasswd Password: Verify: Would you like to enter a view-only password (y/n)? n $ Create a vnc configuration file on the server (session=<name> where /usr/share/xsessions/<name>.desktop exists) Configuration file may be .vnc/config or .config/tigervnc/config $ cat .vnc/config session=plasmax11 geometry=1920x1200 $ Open ports in firewall $ sudo firewall-cmd --add-service=vnc-server --permanent $ sudo firewall-cmd --reload Enable and start vncserver $ sudo systemctl enable vncserver@:1.service $ sudo systemctl start vncserver@:1.service Connect from client using remmina as user 'abc' to server:1
Hi @zpytela, can you think of any change in selinux-policy that would be causing this issue for Tigervnc now in Fedora 43?
I can only guess some library started to use the pidfs abstraction. fs_getattr_pidfs(vnc_session_t) may be sufficient
I made a scratch build with the proposed change from @zpytela. Can you please give it a try? Link: https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=139618090
