Description:
Rust bindings for UDisks2.

This package has been orphaned and I'd like to adopt it. I've already:
- Built it successfully against Fedora 44
- Fixed spec file typos
- Verified rpmlint output is clean (only minor upstream XML FSF address warning)
- Tested the package locally

This is my first package submission, so I'm also seeking sponsorship.

Comment 1 Ben Beasley 2026-01-17 21:48:45 UTC
Is there something you would like to package that this is a dependency for? Unless they also include a command-line tool or something, Rust crate library packages in Fedora are not really useful for end users, only for building other Fedora packages. Packaging and maintaining them for their own sake isn’t prohibited, but it’s wasted effort if nothing ever depends on them.

Note also that this package hasn’t been retired yet, only orphaned, so if you were a Fedora packager you could just click the “Take” button on https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/rust-udisks2. Even after the orphaned package is eventually retired, it only needs to be re-reviewed once it has been retired for more than eight weeks[1].

Cannot find any valid SRPM URL for this ticket. Common causes are:

- You didn't specify `SRPM URL: ...` in the ticket description
  or any of your comments
- The URL schema isn't HTTP or HTTPS
- The SRPM package linked in your URL doesn't match the package name specified
  in the ticket summary

Are you still working on this, and (as queried in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2430568#c1) is there something particular that you’re planning to use this crate library for? Thanks!

Comment 5 mkireynahana 2026-06-22 04:36:13 UTC
Hi Ben, sorry for the delay. College hit harder than expected and this completely fell off my radar.
To answer comment 1: I originally wanted this as a dependency for a disk management utility I was tinkering with, but that project hasn't gone anywhere meaningful either.
The honest move is to close this. Nothing depends on it and I can't commit to maintaining it right now. I'll revisit when the dependent project is actually in a state worth packaging.
Thanks for the patience and the follow-up.
