On a Lenovo ThinkPad P16 Gen3 with Intel Wi-Fi 7 BE200, the iwlwifi driver consistently requests a specific firmware revision (c99) which is not present in the linux-firmware package. The driver falls back to an older firmware revision and Wi-Fi may work, but earlier boots failed completely when fallback did not succeed. This produces persistent error messages even on successful boots and caused unreliable Wi-Fi behavior historically. Kernel: 6.18.x Hardware: Intel Wi-Fi 7 BE200 (PCI ID 8086:272b) Platform: Lenovo ThinkPad P16 Gen3 (21RR), Arrow Lake HX Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot Fedora with the latest updates on the affected machine. Actual Results: Firmware load error is logged. Driver falls back to older firmware. Wi-Fi works inconsistently depending on boot timing / fallback success. Expected Results: Preferred firmware revision is present, or driver does not request unavailable firmware, or error message is changed into a warning message if fallback is intended. Additional Information: Relevant journal lines: ~~~ [ 37.372283] iwlwifi 0000:82:00.0: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-gl-c0-fm-c0-c99.ucode failed with error -2 iwlwifi 0000:82:00.0: loaded firmware version gl-c0-fm-c0-101.ucode ~~~ Earlier boots with the same hardware and kernel failed to bring up Wi-Fi at all in the evening of the 17th January. With latest updates, wifi works.
Please report actual read kernel versions you are having issues with, not .x, please also report the firmware you have install (rpm -qa|grep firmware).
