Created attachment 2123866 [details] Crash log Description of problem: Since the last system update on Fedora 43, connecting a Sony WH-1000XM4 Bluetooth headset causes an immediate session crash (return to login screen/GDM). Other Bluetooth devices (Logitech Lift mouse) continue to work perfectly. The logs indicate that gnome-shell, gsd-media-keys, and gnome-control-center all dump core simultaneously. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): - OS: Fedora 43 (Fully updated as of Jan 26, 2026). - Kernel: 6.18.6-200.fc43.x86_64. - Desktop: GNOME 4x (Wayland). - Audio: Pipewire / Wireplumber. - Hardware: Sony WH-1000XM4. How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot Fedora 43 (Kernel: 6.18.6-200.fc43.x86_64). 2. Ensure Bluetooth is ON. 3. Turn on Sony WH-1000XM4. 4. As soon as the device connects and attempts to handshake for audio output, the session terminates abruptly. Actual results: The entire Wayland/GNOME session crashes, sending the user back to the GDM login screen. Expected results: The audio output should switch to the Bluetooth headset without affecting the graphical session. Additional info: Technical Analysis The crash originates from libglycin-2.so during a backtrace execution. This occurs precisely when the audio output is supposed to switch to the Bluetooth device. The presence of multiple USB error -71 and reset failures suggests an underlying instability in the hardware communication layer , but the final trigger is the segfault in the GNOME components. Additional note: a rollback was not possible I attempted to downgrade the system to the previous state using "sudo dnf history undo 48", but the operation failed with multiple dependency conflicts. The transaction #48 included critical updates to glibc (2.42-6 to 2.42-9) and selinux-policy. DNF refused to resolve the rollback, likely to prevent a system-wide breakage (dependency hell) since these core libraries are currently in use by the package manager and the init system itself.
This issue seems to be a duplicate of Bug 2431888. The crash in gnome-shell via libglycin started precisely after upgrading to glibc-2.42-9.fc43.
Reassigning to the real Fedora component involved (gnome-shell) and mark as duplicate. This is definitively not a gnome-shell-extension-system-monitor-applet. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 2431888 ***
