This is part of a group of similar vulnerabilities related to cmap pickle files in pdfminer. I spent a little time trying to backport the fixes, but the version of pdfminer in EPEL8 is too old to straightforwardly do so – and everything else in EPEL8 is too old to update pdfminer. I would happily accept a sensible-looking PR, but I don’t believe it’s practical to do anything here with a reasonably moderate amount of effort.
