when I load an image made with Lumix G9m1 it works, but G9m2 images look like pink mush. I do not know if this is a problem with RT or with LibRa, I suspect that it's the use of a stable and bad libraw: https://github.com/LibRaw/LibRaw/issues/672 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.start program 2.load image from local file storage 3.see screen of pink mush Expected Results: should see my beautiful photo
Created attachment 2129398 [details] RT app when lumix rw2 loaded
I can't attach a raw image, the smallest file I have is over 31MB but the limit here is 19-ish
Created attachment 2129402 [details] part 1 of 2 of an rw2 file split
Created attachment 2129403 [details] part 2 of 2 of an rw2 file split cat the parts together cat PGII2333.rw2.part1 PGII2333.rw2.part2 > PGII2333.rw2 for the record, I grant rawtherapee and libraw developers permission to use my photo for any purpose in developing and testing their software.
Rawtherapee 5.12 should support G9m2 images and in F43 was built with libraw 0.21.4. See https://github.com/RawTherapee/RawTherapee/issues/7439 You should report this problem upstream, I don't think it's a packaging problem.
I've read a little more. it seems that the release version of libraw is badly out of date and is missing many new features merged to it, such as the newer Lumix file format so I agree that Rawtherapee isn't at fault, neither your package, nor the software upstream. What I think I need is to have a build of git latest libraw library which RT can run against. How do I go about requesting that? thanks for your time
I've changed this ticket to be about libraw, if that's ok?

x-ref bug 2428911
Note that it might be hard to update libraw 0.22 other than in F45... it depends on how breaking the update from 0.21.5 is.
> it depends on how breaking the update from 0.21.5 is It's not fortunately, but there are still probably a few rebuilds to do... I hope a freeze exception could be doable for F44 if the maintainers are up for it, as the list of newly supported cameras is not small.
I've been looking at it for a couple weeks. I'll get the build and side tag going to start the 1-week clock for f45.
> I'll get the build and side tag going to start the 1-week clock for f45. Great, thanks. If it helps, I've done the bump in MSYS2 [1] following the Arch one [2]. Only ImageMagick required some attention (fixed upstream only in latest 7.1.2.13). [1] https://github.com/msys2/MINGW-packages/pull/25268/changes [2] https://archlinux.org/todo/libraw-022/
> I hope a freeze exception could be doable for F44 I really hope this will be possible, because an upgrade to the version libraw would improve more than just the usage of RawTherapee, there are other image processing tools which must use it, and it could be a deal breaker for some people. I appreciate everybody's a volunteer, so thanks for all your efforts.
The side tag is coming to rawhide tomorrow. I've just submitted a freeze exception proposal for F44.
that's excellent news @gwync thanks!
