The upstream issue tracking this bug is: https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=33638.  The fix for this bug was in binutils/dwarf.c, this file is only used for DWARF parsing by the binutils tools, readelf, objdump, etc.  This file is not compiled into GDB.  As such, this bug has no impact on GDB at all.
