Comment 1 Ben Beasley 2026-04-01 06:16:58 UTC
You should explain/justify what is happening in the metadata patch. Something like this, in rust2rpm.toml, would do nicely:

  [package]
  cargo-toml-patch-comments = [
      "Update webbrowser to 1.0 (upstream wants 0.5)",
  ]

Ideally, you would also suggest the change upstream. Fortunately, someone already has, so you can just link that PR:

  cargo-toml-patch-comments = [
      """\
      Update webbrowser to 1.0 (upstream wants 0.5):
      https://github.com/optozorax/quad-url/pull/2\
      """,
  ]

Similarly, tests shouldn’t be disabled without an explanation, something like:

  [tests]
  run = false
  comments = [
      "Unpackaged dev-dependencies egui-macroquad, macroquad, and egui",
  ]

Although it’s not really hurting anything, you could choose to exclude js/quad-url.js in your metadata patch since it’s only for WASM.

Comment 3 Fedora Review Service 2026-04-06 14:50:36 UTC
There seems to be some problem with the following file.
SRPM URL: https://jsteffan.fedorapeople.org/xrizer/rust-quad-url-0.1.2-1.fc43.src.rpm
Fetching it results in a 404 Not Found error.
Please make sure the URL is correct and publicly available.

If you want to trigger a new Copr build, add a comment containing new
Spec and SRPM URLs or [fedora-review-service-build] string.

Comment 5 Ben Beasley 2026-05-08 11:31:54 UTC
Package APPROVED. You might still consider excluding the JavaScript source, which would only be needed for WASM, but this isn’t terribly important.

===

Recommended post-import rust-sig tasks:

- set up package on release-monitoring.org:
  project: $crate
  homepage: https://crates.io/crates/$crate
  backend: crates.io
  version scheme: semantic
  version filter (*NOT* pre-release filter): alpha;beta;rc;pre
  distro: Fedora
  Package: rust-$crate

- add @rust-sig with "commit" access as package co-maintainer
  (should happen automatically)

- set bugzilla assignee overrides to @rust-sig (optional)

- track package in koschei for all built branches
  (should happen automatically once rust-sig is co-maintainer)

Package Review
==============

Legend:
[x] = Pass, [!] = Fail, [-] = Not applicable, [?] = Not evaluated

The spec file is exactly as generated by rust2rpm with the provided
rust2rpm.toml, greatly simplifying the review.

The tests are disabled. This is unfortunate, but adequately justified by the
several missing dependencies, and the disablement is appropriately documented.

The patch to update the webbrowser dependency is reasonable, well-documented,
and has an upstream status link.

Issues:
=======
- Package does not contain duplicates in %files.
  Note: warning: File listed twice: /usr/share/cargo/registry/quad-
  url-0.1.2/LICENSE-APACHE
  See: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/packaging-
  guidelines/#_duplicate_files

  OK: not a serious problem; due to reasonable rust2rpm design decisions

- Although it’s not really hurting anything, you could choose to exclude
  js/quad-url.js in your metadata patch since it’s only for WASM. This doesn’t
  block approval.
