There is a newer brltty version available then it is included in Fedora 44. Included version is 6.8.x, current stable release is 6.9.1. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Search for brltty in the packages and see the version number. Actual Results: Version 6.8.x is displayed. Expected Results: Version 6.9 should be available. Additional Information: Sorry if my bug report is not conform to the usual rules, but as a blind person the bugzilla bug tracker is not really easy to use.
Thank you for the report, this is good. So we have 6.9.1 in Fedora 45, rawhide. Updating it to that version in Fedora 44 would require rebuilds and potentially updates to orca, anaconda, and qemu. Fedora 44 will be released shortly, so it's a bit unusual, though not impossible, to do such an update. Are there important new features in 6.9.1 that you need?
Thanks for the quick reply and thanks a lot for your help! I know that reporting the upgrade request for brltty has a bad timing but if it is still possible it would be great if brltty 6.9.1 could still applyed to version 44 either for the initial release or as an upgrade somewhen later. The newer brltty 6.9.1 release solves some bugs, solves some problems with several braille devices and brings a new tmux screen driver which could help dealing with problems blind users still have with wayland. And of course also some new featrues regarding to copy and paste have been integrated. So if there is any chance to get brltty 6.9.1 integrated into version 44 it would be really great, even if the newer version comes as an update after the initial release!
BTW.: If you decide to include a newer brltty release or include an update later please use brltty 6.9.1 and not 6.9.0 because with 6.9.1 a serious problem has been solved which is contained in 6.9.0.
