If you don't have time to maintain this package, consider orphaning it, so maintainers of dependent packages realize the problem. If you don't react accordingly to the policy for FTBFS/FTI bugs (https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Fails_to_build_from_source_Fails_to_install/), your package may be orphaned in 8+ weeks. P.S. The data was generated solely from koji buildroot, so it might be newer than the latest compose or the content on mirrors. To reproduce, use the koji/local repo only, e.g. in mock: $ mock -r fedora-44-x86_64 --config-opts mirrored=False install python3-espresso-mpich python3-espresso-openmpi P.P.S. If this bug has been reported in the middle of upgrading multiple dependent packages, please consider using side tags: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Updates_Policy/#updating-inter-dependent-packages Thanks!
FEDORA-2026-fc327a7c70 (espresso-5.0.0-3.fc44) has been submitted as an update to Fedora 44. https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2026-fc327a7c70
The kokkos-devel package recently bumped its version to release 5.0.2. While ESPResSo 5.0.0 supports that version of Kokkos, its feature set needs to include legacy views for Cabana. If I understand the Kokkos CMake correctly, `IMPL_MDSPAN` is ON by default, and when ON, `VIEW_LEGACY_DEFAULT` is OFF by default. When ESPResSo builds Kokkos from sources, it sets `IMPL_VIEW_LEGACY` to ON. I have removed kokkos-devel from the dependency list. The upcoming ESPResSo 5.1 release will make Cabana mandatory; at that point, package dependencies won't be satisfied anymore, unless either Cabana moves away from the legacy interface, or kokkos-devel re-enables the legacy interface.
