Description Kanwar Ranbir Sandhu 2007-07-03 20:25:24 UTC
Description of problem:
I booted the Fedora Core 6 dom0 after upgrading the server's RAM to 3 GB (from 1
GB). I used "free" to check how much RAM was available, and found that of the 3
GB of RAM, about 256 MB were missing.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kernel-xen-2.6.20-1.2962.fc6

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Installed kernel-xen-2.6.20-1.2962.fc6
2. Boot the machine
3. Use free to see how much RAM is available

Actual results:
[root@xenmaster ~]# free
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 2716672 234060 2482612 0 16988 66076
-/+ buffers/cache: 150996 2565676
Swap: 524280 0 524280

Expected results:
Mem: 3145728

Additional info:
- Dell PowerEdge 1600SC
- Running latest BIOS and firmware for all components
- Fedora Core 6 dom0, all updates applied

dmesg shows this:
Memory: 2874636k/2987900k available (2135k kernel code, 104060k reserved, 1130k
data, 176k init, 2242436k highmem)

Fedora Core 6 is now end-of-life, so closing this bug out. Please test again
with Fedora 7 or later, and open a new bug if your problem persists.

Thanks.
