Upgrading Fedora Workstation 43 to 44 results in both gst-thumbnailers and totem-video-thumbnailer installed. This does not seem to be the intended behavior. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Upgrade from F43 Workstation to F44. 2. Run: rpm -q gst-thumbnailers totem-video-thumbnailer Actual Results: gst-thumbnailers-1.0.0-1.fc44.x86_64 totem-video-thumbnailer-43.2-7.fc44.x86_64 Expected Results: gst-thumbnailers-1.0.0-1.fc44.x86_64 package totem-video-thumbnailer is not installed
I don't think blanket replacing totem-video-thumbnailer with gst-thumbnailers would be correct. I'm not even sure whether GNOME is the only desktop environment affected here. I've filed a ticket with the Workstation Working Group to figure out what the correct / intended behaviour is here. https://forge.fedoraproject.org/workstation/tickets/issues/513
Ok, neither Workstation Working Group nor me could come up with a good way to handle this cleanly on upgrade. Given that having both installed is not actually a *problem*, it is probably better to keep things as they are for now.
