Description of problem: I ran "up2date -u" and it tried to update httpd (I actually upgraded from 4.4 to 4.5). /var/www/html is a symlink to a NFS mounted directory where root doesn't have write permissions. Installer outputs the following error: error: unpacking of archive failed on file /var/www/html: cpio: chown There was a fatal RPM install error. The message was: There was a rpm unpack error installing the package: httpd-2.0.52-32.2.ent After removing the symlink system installed the rpm flawlessly and an empty html directory was created. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): see error message How reproducible: Should be easy to reproduce
This is expected behaviour with RPM. If you want to use some directory other than /var/www/html for the document root, change the DocumentRoot directive in httpd.conf.
