Description Jonathan Wakely 2026-06-02 15:15:52 UTC
In rawhide libboost_system.so is an empty linker script and I plan to remove it, see https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@lists.fedoraproject.org/thread/LLMQYVEUFCEFKQNZE3IFRQZF4S2KE2BB/

This will break linux-sgx:

g++ -o qgs se_trace.o server_main.o qgs_server.o qgs_log.o qgs_ql_logic.o -Wl,-z,relro,-z,now,-z,noexecstack -Wl,-z,relro -Wl,--as-needed  -Wl,-z,pack-relative-relocs -Wl,-z,now -specs=/usr/lib/rpm/redhat/redhat-hardened-ld -specs=/usr/lib/rpm/redhat/redhat-hardened-ld-errors -specs=/usr/lib/rpm/redhat/redhat-annobin-cc1  -Wl,--build-id=sha1 -specs=/usr/lib/rpm/redhat/redhat-package-notes   -L../../build/linux -lsgx_tdx_logic -lsgx_pce_logic -ldl -L/builddir/build/BUILD/linux-sgx-2.28-build/confidential-computing.sgx-sgx_2.28/build/vroot/sgxsdk/lib64 -lsgx_urts -g -lboost_system -lboost_thread -lpthread -L../qgs_msg_lib/linux -lqgs_msg
/usr/bin/ld.bfd: cannot find -lboost_system: No such file or directory
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status

The package should be updated to stop linking to libboost_system, because that library no longer exists in upstream Boost, and is not needed.

Reproducible: Always

Additional Information:
Test build with an updated Boost package:

Thanks for the heads up, I'll patch this out locally, and also send an issue and/or patch upstream.

Upstream has meanwhile done its own fix for this, which I've cherry-picked to rawhide

Built in linux-sgx-2.28-6.fc45
