Description Lacrocivious Acrophosist 2026-07-21 01:04:34 UTC
Fedora 43 KDE Plasma X11 - Marknote compiled against older kmime; will not run when normal dnf5 update --refresh daily is run. Requires manual removal of kmime, install of kf6-kmime then manual rebuild, beyond many users' capabilities, and I have no idea what wreckage may be left behind by 'dnf remove kmime'. Recompile from source works. Needs the package maintainer or someone to update repos with recompiled version.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Run dnf5 update --refresh as usual every day
2.Observe that Marknote, when executed, flashes briefly in taskbar and disappears
3.Research errors to find Marknote was compiled with obsolete kmime and needs recompiling
Actual Results:
Marknote flashes briefly in taskbar but doesn't run.

Expected Results:
Marknote loads after reboot as part of saved plasma session.

7.1.3-101.fc43.x86_64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Tue Jul 14 06:31:06 UTC 2026 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Fedora Workstation 43
KDE Plasma Version:
6.7.2
KDE Frameworks Version:
6.28.0
Qt Version:
6.10.3
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Remove kmime and recompile (I'm not a dev; this was a painfully iterative process of dependency hell). Recompiled Marknote works but surely the package maintainer needs to address this?
