On my F45 system: # rpm -qa | grep elfutils | sort elfutils-0.195-3.fc45.x86_64 elfutils-debuginfod-client-0.195-3.fc45.x86_64 elfutils-default-yama-scope-0.195-1.fc44.noarch elfutils-devel-0.195-3.fc45.x86_64 elfutils-libelf-0.195-3.fc45.i686 elfutils-libelf-0.195-3.fc45.x86_64 elfutils-libelf-devel-0.195-3.fc45.x86_64 elfutils-libs-0.195-3.fc45.x86_64 elfutils-libs-0.195-3.fc45 has: "Obsoletes: elfutils-default-yama-scope < 0.195-1" https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/elfutils/blob/56a72e6b42aa2acc553f1a3fcdade1a94f191d15/f/elfutils.spec#_120 But current F44 latest elfutils-default-yama-scope is 0.195-1.fc44.noarch : https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2026-539a1b9923 and this does not be obsoleted by "< 0.195-1" Reproducible: Always
A near-future elfutils update 0.196 will be coming out, and on f45+ it should include an Obsoletes: elfutils-default-yama-scope without a version restriction.
FEDORA-2026-cd91064057 (elfutils-0.196-1.fc46) has been submitted as an update to Fedora 46. https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2026-cd91064057
FEDORA-2026-cd91064057 (elfutils-0.196-1.fc46) has been pushed to the Fedora 46 stable repository. If problem still persists, please make note of it in this bug report.
Would you build and submit to bodhi for F45 also? Otherwise "Restrict ptrace" feature is not testable.
