Since Fedora-Rawhide-20260805.n.0, the openQA fingerprint login test has been failing.

The test is set up according to the plan we worked out in https://forge.fedoraproject.org/quality/os-autoinst-distri-fedora/issues/223 . You can see it at https://forge.fedoraproject.org/quality/os-autoinst-distri-fedora/src/branch/main/tests/desktop_fprint.pm . We set up the systemd service, enroll a dummy fingerprint, reboot, run a command to trigger a 'fingerprint scan' in 20 seconds, then switch to GDM and expect, first, the "(or swipe finger across reader)" text to appear indicating that the fingerprint support is working, and then for the login to happen.

Up to Fedora-Rawhide-20260804.n.0 this was working reliably, but from Fedora-Rawhide-20260805.n.0 onwards, it has failed every day. When we go to gdm, the "(or swipe finger across reader)" text never appears. In the journal, there are quite a lot of messages from fprintd, several like this:
