Description rsl08jf6 2026-08-24 16:45:58 UTC
When launching Kile, it segmentation faults and does not launch. This happened after a recent-ish update, but I am unable to give a specific date. I have attempted to reinstall Kile and Okular, as well as clearing configs, but this has not solved the issue.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Attempt to open Kile
Actual Results:
Kile crashes with a segmentation fault.

Expected Results:
Kile opens.

Additional Information:
Fedora 44 KDE

I installed Fedora 44 KDE in a VM, and while Kile did crash the first time I ran it in the VM, it launched successfully afterwards, ie. I am unable to reproduce it in a VM, but I can reproduce it every time on my laptop. Please ask if you need any logs or anything like that from me.

When trying to launch Kile from the console:
user@fedora:~$ kile
KCrash: Application 'kile' crashing... crashRecursionCounter = 2
Segmentation fault (core dumped) kile

gdb backtrace, in case it is useful, will be added as a comment. See below.

I added the "Regression" and "Upgrades" keywords, as this issue did not occur when I last used Kile, but I am unsure how long ago that was (I believe a month or two).

I just tried to do a brand new build, and it still crashes on start so you'd need to submit this upstream

This should fix it by the way, feel free to install it and it should fix your issue: https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2026-da5cb3af23

Adding myself as needinfo to remind myself tomorrow to add this bug to the bodhi update, can't do it rn.
