Description of problem: I'm with fedora devel. After upgrading to xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.6.193 this problem appeared. When I exec startx and the X begin to start - the monitor is switching off for abour 4-5sec and it is looking like when system is rebooting. OK, it is maybe not a bug, but this switch off/on thing is a bit scary because my monitor was repaired 3 times after such switch off/on things, although this was with older nvidia video card. And one question - if it is not a bug is it possible this reset or what is called to be skipped, because it was working fine without it before that version. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.6.193, not sure about xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.6.192, can't find this version anymore, but it began in August (I think 1-2 weeks ago - around 15th August or something), so must be 6.6.193. This problem does not appear in 6.6.3-4 from fedora 7.90. How reproducible: At every boot. It happens only once - at the first start of X, then it is not happening, next time X is starting faster without this switching off. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Reboot the system. 2. When X begin to start (or in my case with initdefault 3 start with startx) the monitor switch off for 4-5sec and then switch on again. Actual results: Monitor is switching off for 4-5sec at first start of X. Expected results: As in older versions not to switch off the monitor when X is starting. Additional info: Observed with: xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.6.193-1.fc8 xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.6.193-2.fc8 Not sure about xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.6.192-1.fc8 Video card ATI Radeon 9550. Although nothing visible in the log I'm attaching the diff from Xorg.0.log between 6.6.3-4 and 6.6.193-2.

can you please retry with the 6.7.19x driver in rawhide? the 6.6.19x series ended badly :-)
It seems the problem is fixed. Thanks.
