Here's all the error I get:

[root@station12 /root]# up2date -r
There was a fatal error communicating with the server.  The message was:
Connection refused
[root@station12 /root]# rpm -qf `which up2date`
up2date-2.1.7-2
[root@station12 /root]# 

Not sure if the server's down, or if up2date is broken, or what?
