I don't know for certain what a Creative Annihilator is, but I'm assuming it is a sound card. If you remove it, and install, does the problem go away? It makes no sense at all that you would get a random text/gui install at boot time unless your machine is doing something really strange. Make sure you do not have any "Plug and Play aware OS" enabled in your BIOS and try again. This has nothing to do with X IMHO. I'll run it by the installer team to see if they have any ideas, but AFAICS, this is a NOTABUG. The Annihilator is my X card!!! Keywords above, "Generic GTS" and "nvidia GTS." Note that I get this strange behavior ONLY with QA0309. NOT with RC-2, not with Wolverine, not with beta-3, not with beta-1. Just checked ... "PNP OS" is indeed set to "No" in my BIOS. probably a kernel crash. Please provide file attachments of: lspci -v lspci -vn Your XF86Config-4 and X server logs. Without the above info I cannot proceed. I've been working with 0401 today, installing various different ways, and I don't have any problems. Looks like this was 0309 only, not earlier versions, and is fixed by 0401. Thanks. Ok great, glad it's working for you now. Thanks for updating the bug report quickly so I can close it. Latest rawhide version is 4.03-5 should fix any problems others may have like this. Take care! |
