I've noticed various places using subpixel hinting in F8: - the installer - the graphical boot screen - gdm (I've noticed, because they're using the wrong RGB ordering for my monitor, and so it looks awful.) I'm assuming that none of these apps are doing it on purpose, and that the problem is just with the default settings. (And then once I log in, everything is fine, because GNOME overrides the defaults.)

gdm appears to use grayscale smoothing in F10. I don't know what the graphical boot screen uses because I don't have a graphical-boot-supported graphics card. The installer is still definitely broken. (I am assuming that this the installer is not *deliberately* setting the font smoothing mode wrong though, but rather, it's just inheriting a broken default from somewhere.)

Fedora 10 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2009-12-17. Fedora 10 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates.
