Downgrading to gnome-panel-2.20.1-1.fc8 allows to restore the usual appearance. Btw, during this ['rpm'] operation, Preparing... ########################################### [100%] I/O warning : failed to load external entity "/etc/gconf/schemas/clock.schemas" is spawned to the console.
