Description Ed Friedman 2001-05-15 16:49:59 UTC
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.77 [en] (X11; U; Linux 2.2.17-14 i686)

Description of problem:
NE1000 clones are not being detected under the 7.1 installation script,
which requires a number of files to be edited after installation before
ethernet access can be established (/etc/hosts, /etc/sysconfig/network,
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0,/etc/modules.conf)

This problem also existed in RedHat 6.x installations, but was fixed under
7.0, in which it was possible to specify the type of NIC, its address, and
its IRQ, after which the card was properly detected.

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install onto PC with NE1000 clone NIC
2.
3.

Actual Results: RedHat 7.1 installs as if there were no NIC present

Expected Results: There should be some way to identify the NIC (e.g. as
was done in 7.0)

You need to boot with 'expert noprobe'. That should give you the device
configuration menu that you are looking for. Please reopen this bug if that
doesn't fix the problem.
