The flock call ought to be interruptible. The correct way to do this is by using the glocks only for locking between nodes (intra-node locking can be done via the same mechanism as the existing VFS code uses) and to use the glock holders's wait queue as the one which we wait upon. That probably means some VFS changes, or at least duplication of some of the VFS routines. Also some further improvements: - Don't allocate the file->private_data in open(), wait until we actually need it - If we use the glock for inter-node locking only, we only need one per inode, rather than one per flock, so potentially we could move it into the inode (do we still need file->private_data then? possibly not) - There are probably some further optimisations which can be made in open. If we get rid of the direct i/o flag, then we only need lock the glock when open is called without O_LARGEFILE.
