Description Kipling Inscore 2007-12-25 17:49:34 UTC
Description of problem:
the rpm for ratpoison does not list (all) dependencies.
Namely whichever supplies font -*-fixed-bold-r-normal-*-15-*-*-*-c-*-*-*

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
OLPC build ?? (G1G1 version)
yum repossitory olpc_koji-ship2
ratpoison-1.4.1-0.fc7
I think it may be a bug simply copied from Fedora.

How reproducible:
as long as dependencies aren't already installed

Steps to Reproduce:
1. su -c "yum install ratpoison"
2. ratposion

Actual results:
"ratpoison: Cannot load font..."

Expected results:
"ratpoison: There can only be one" (if Matchbox or other WM is running)

Additional info:
I didn't expect ratpoison to be in the OLPC repository.
I would have expected it to be installable from a Fedora repository if at all.

My guess is this is due to us stripping xfs or removing all bitmapped fonts
without properly linking a scaled font for legacy support. I'm not sure if OLPC
themselves will take time to fix this issue. Technically it should be filed
downstream with them.

BTW OLPC repos inherit from Fedora repos so they get all the packages from F-7 +
whatever they forked or added. As the OLPC is a targeted device not all
applications available will work without modification.

If you can figure out which fonts are missing OLPC may be willing to fix the
issue in their builds and rpms.
