Description John Brier 2008-02-04 22:09:16 UTC
Description of problem:
I have two F8 installs with different hardware. Both are using nvidia
proprietary drivers and gkrellm crashes regularly after several days of running.
This is the error I see when running it from a terminal:

gkrellm: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.0.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gkrellm-2.3.0-4.fc8

How reproducible:
Run gkrellm for several days to a week.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run gkrellm for at least a week
2. It will crash showing the error listed.
3. gkrellm: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.0.

Actual results:
gkrellm: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.0.

Expected results:
gkrellm will run forever

I'll see if I can reproduce this, I'll get back to you in about a week.

Comment 3 John Brier 2008-02-13 04:37:39 UTC
Just to add some data to this here is an example of the time I'm talking about:

$ time gkrellm
gkrellm: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.0.

real 4007m43.821s
user 5m50.058s
sys 2m49.297s

Comment 4 John Brier 2008-02-28 14:05:30 UTC
I am still getting this bug. The time it takes for it to crash seems to be
showing a pattern.

$ time gkrellm
gkrellm: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.0.

real 3760m57.237s
user 22m14.278s
sys 18m38.334s
[john@cam ~]$ time gkrellm
gkrellm: Fatal IO error 0 (Success) on X server :0.0.

real 3797m20.885s
user 23m30.378s
sys 17m47.662s
[john@cam ~]$ time gkrellm
gkrellm: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.0.

real 3526m19.518s
user 22m40.045s
sys 16m53.078s

Comment 5 Hans de Goede 2008-03-04 21:16:26 UTC
Okay,

So I've been trying to reproduce this, I've had gkrellm running for 4 days (then
I rebooted), then again for 5 days (then I rebooted) and now for 10 days and
going strong.

So ... I'm going the blame the blob (the nvidea one), and close this as works
for me.

You could try filing a bug with nvidea.
