Description of problem:
links selected in konqueror's "edit links" window or from pan newsreader,
do not open in konqueror, but spawn several kfmclients.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kdebase 3.5.8-32

How reproducible:
select kfmclient as default browser in component chooser in kcontrol.

Sorry, but I don't think this is a bug. kfmclient uses these same settings to 
pick an application to launch, so you'll end up with kfmclient launching 
itself. I think you are expected to set the default browser to konqueror 
instead. If you disagree, you can try filing the bug upstream at 
http://bugs.kde.org and see what answer you get there. (We would have asked you 
to do that in any case.)
