Description David G. Mackay 2008-03-13 01:34:36 UTC
Description of problem:
The X server terminates with the message:
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.

Fatal server error:
no screens found

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
xorg-x11-server-common-1.4.99.900-0.28.20080304.fc9.i38 and forward

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start X
2.
3.

Actual results:
X terminates

Expected results:
X should run

Additional info:
I am attaching the Xorg.0.log and xorg.conf
Note that this is running in a QEMU-KVM virtual machine. However, there is at
least one other individual experiencing the same symptoms with an nvidia card,
which can't be in a virtual machine.

Note also that changing the video controller to vesa will allow X to run.

Yep I had this same issue with VMWare Fusion for several days (maybe a week)
now. Have not tried the -4. versions yet that should fix this according to Adam
Jackson, its in koji but not yet in repo.

Comment 5 Andrew Farris 2008-03-13 12:16:15 UTC
I did get X started up on VMware using the newer build,
xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.4.99.901-5.20080310.fc9 (pulled from koji).

Comment 6 David G. Mackay 2008-03-13 14:04:00 UTC
I just installed the new updates, and the problem did indeed get resolved.
