Description richards rigbys 2008-03-17 17:46:51 UTC
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.5) Gecko/20070718 Fedora/2.0.0.5-1.fc7 Firefox/2.0.0.5

Description of problem:
in the fedora 9 alpha release, though the domain-search option is available, it is not requested by default.

if you tell the client to request this information, it does nothing with it, i.e. it won't add to the search domains.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
dhclient-4.0.0-6

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.create /etc/dhclient.conf
2.add a line to dhclient.conf 'also request domain-search'
3.bring up the network interface.

Actual Results:
information is available from server, but the client does nothing with it.
/etc/resolv.conf is not modified to include the search domains.

Expected Results:
the search domains, as specified on the server, should have appeared in /etc/resolv.conf

Additional info:
i think that maybe the dhclient-script needs updating to be able to make use of the domain-search information?

Comment 1 David Cantrell 2008-03-26 04:53:11 UTC
You're right, the script needed updating. Should be fixed in dhcp-4.0.0-13.fc9 and later.

Thanks.
