Description of problem: While in GNOME and Xorg (using radeonhd driver) a single keypress while typing will repeat. The system seems to pause for a slight second as well as a minor side-affect. This does not happen in the non-gui terminals. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): xorg-x11-drv-radeonhd-1.1.0-0.7.20080301git.fc9.i386 How reproducible: Using Xorg, with gnome-terminal or any other editable area, begin typing. After a short while, the screen will pause, and after the pause, multiple copies will appear of the previously keyed character even though the key was only pressed once. This especially happens when ssh'd into another box. There are other (older) bugs describing this behavior, but do not appear to be active. If I am incorrect, please feel free to mark this as a duplicate and update with the appropriate bug # Steps to Reproduce: 1. ssh to another machine 2. type a phrase in a terminal while using Xorg 3. for example 'a quick dog jumped over the lazy fox' Actual results: a qqqqqqqquick dog jumped over the lazy fox (or something similar, ymmv) Expected results: a quick dog jumped over the lazy fox Additional info:
Almost certainly not a radeonhd bug.
Agreed, but it doesn't occur in the tty's on the text side. Just in Xorg from what I can tell.
Could you try with vesa?
Matej, I've done that before, but I'll be happy to try it again for you. I regularly switch between vesa and the radeonhd in hopes that the latter will be production ready soon. I'll test it for a few days and report. Cheers, Clint
As of the update I performed on April 14, 2008, this bug does not appear anymore with either vesa nor radeonhd drivers. Closing bug.
