I could not reproduce using either IE 6 or 7 (most current versions) in Windows
XP. I don't have access to a Vista box so I haven't been able to try the
instructions exactly. The 6001 in the IE version number stands for Windows 6
(Vista) Service Pack 1, so if there is a bug in IE it appears to be localized
the at least IE 7 running on Vista. 

As a temporary fix you could have the customer install a free browser (like
firefox) and use that for the time being.
