Description Jay Levitt 2008-05-04 11:34:29 UTC
Description of problem:

When installing FC9 Preview in text mode, there is no "LVM" button next to the
"RAID" button, as there is in the graphical installer. You can choose to create
an LVM physical volume, but there's no way to create a volume group under that.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
11.4.0.73 on x86_64

Comment 1 Chris Lumens 2008-05-04 14:22:27 UTC
We have no intention of changing this any time soon, as there's simply not the
screen space in the text mode installer to allow adding LVM support. If you
really can't do a graphical install for some reason, might I suggest doing an
install over VNC instead?

Comment 2 Jay Levitt 2008-05-04 15:06:38 UTC
No problem; I already did a graphical install. It just seems odd to be able to
select "LVM physical volume", but then not be able to do anything with that -
especially if you're unfamiliar with graphic mode, and don't know where the
button should be.

Is there a use-case for creating an LVM physical volume in text mode, but not
using it? If not, I'd suggest removing it; if there is, perhaps a warning
pop-up that says "You will not be able to configure LVM volumes in the text-mode
installer."
